Hurst First Ward Renamed to Original Name

The Hurst 1st Ward had a name change under the direction of the First Presidency of the Church. President Chandler Growald, Hurst Stake President announced the name change in the Ward Sacrament meeting. The name is now the Hurst Ward.

The Hurst Ward was named in the mid 1970s, organized as a new ward from the Fort Worth 2nd ward. At that time, the Fort Worth 2nd Ward encompassed members living in east Fort Worth, North Arlington, Hurst, Euless, Bedford, Richland, North Richland Hills, Haltom City, Grapevine, and parts of Lewisville meeting in the Hurst Stake Center. Since those early years, the growth of the church has organized many more wards and stakes strengthening the presence in this part of North Central Texas. In July 1990, a new Young Single Adult (YSA) Ward was organized and named the Hurst 2nd Ward, this in turn caused the Hurst Ward (family ward), to be renamed the Hurst 1st Ward.
