How to Get Started

Fill in your family tree four generations back.

If you’ve never worked on family history, this is a great place to start. The Hurst Stake Family History Specialists can teach you how to use FamilySearch online, find your extended family records and fill in your family tree. Once you get the hang of it, keep climbing to see how far you can go!

Learn how to index.

Indexing is the process of manually transferring data from analog records to the internet so it can be searchable.
