Light the World, Visit a Giving Machine this Season

Light the World is the global Christmas initiative of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Its purpose is to encourage people in our communities to show love to others. This season, Light the World Giving Machines will be temporarily installed in local Texas communities to provide such an opportunity.

What is a Giving Machine?

Light the World Giving Machines are an easy, fun and memorable way to help and serve others during the holiday season. Giving Machines work just like vending machines; “Cards” representing items are displayed in the Giving Machine. Items can be purchased via Debit or Credit Cards only.

The popular Giving Machines offer a unique way to serve and care for others locally and across the globe, giving donors an opportunity to “select” items such as groceries, fresh water, child vaccines, beds, hygiene kits, farming equipment, medical care, job training, educational supplies, beehives and livestock as charitable donations.

Eight charities have been selected to provide items for the Giving Machines. 100 percent of all donations go directly to partner charities for the purchased item or for items or services of greater need based on their discretion.

Two of these charities are local within the Hurst Stake (Church) boundaries:
I Can Still Shine (ICSS) and Special Needs Assistance Partners of North Texas (SNAP).

The blessings these machines will bring to our local charities in Tarrant and the DFW area are visible representations of the generosity of the citizens of Sundance Square, Grapevine, McKinney, and surrounding communities.

Volunteers will be at the Giving Machines at all times they are available to the public. Please share this unique opportunity to serve so many people in our area and invite your friends and neighbors…light the world!

Those unable to visit a physical machine can participate online at LightTheWorld.org/give.

To help spread awareness, share your experience online using the hashtags:
