A Christmas Message from the Hurst Stake Presidency

As we near Christmas day and celebrate the holiday with friends and family, the Presidency of the Hurst Texas Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints send their love and a reminder to remember the Lord Jesus Christ, His love for us, and to make Him a priority in our lives.

Brothers and Sisters, as we approach this Christmas, it’s our prayer that we will focus our thoughts and our attention on the love and gratitude we have for our Savior Jesus Christ.

Only through Him can we be forgiven of our sins and qualify for eternal life.

His teachings are profound and perfectly taught, in both The New Testament and The Book of Mormon.

His interactions with others—those who loved Him, as well as those who sought to destroy Him—provide the perfect example for us to follow in our own lives.

Life gets busy, especially during the holiday season, and priorities can get compromised. May we all strive every day to re-establish the right priorities in our lives, with our Savior Jesus Christ at the top.

May we all strive to identify His perfect qualities and seek to develop those same qualities in ourselves.

And, no matter how many burdens are weighing on our shoulders, and how much we might occasionally feel like giving up, may we always remember that no amount of service that we render to Him, through serving others, could ever come close to matching all that He has done for us.

We wish each of you a joyous Christmas season. May you feel the love of your family and friends. And most importantly, may you feel the love of our Heavenly Father and His only begotten son, our Savior Jesus Christ, whose birth we celebrate at this time each year.

It’s our prayer that as you contemplate what you might give to others this Christmas, you will remember to share the message of our Savior’s Infinite Atonement, and that the way you live will reflect your deep belief in the words you speak.

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem to be taxed with Mary is espoused wife, being great with child

And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inns.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.

And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of heavenly hosts praising God, and saying,

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

–Luke 2: 4-14

In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
