Stake Conference Service Project – That’s a Wrap!

Our stake donated holiday wrapping supplies to One Safe Place, a local non-profit, to help families in domestic violence situations wrap gifts for Christmas, adding joy and a sense of normalcy during a difficult time.

Thanks to the generosity of its members, our stake was able to donate almost 100 rolls of holiday wrapping paper and a large box of transparent tape, stick-on bows, and curling ribbon to a local charity following our recent Stake Conference.

One Safe Place is a local non-profit organization that provides support and resources to individuals in domestic violence situations and their children. Each year at Christmas, with the help of community donations, they set up a place where their clients can come and shop (free of charge) for gifts for their family members. While there always seems to be enough gifts for everyone to receive something, the organization often finds itself short on gift-wrapping materials, and this year, reached out for assistance with stocking their gift-wrapping stations.

Recognizing that many families in crisis may lack the means to purchase even simple holiday supplies, One Safe Place asked our stake to provide festive wrapping paper (yes, it is available for purchase at local stores in October!) and other associated items. These supplies will allow parents to wrap gifts for their children and children to wrap gifts for their parents, hopefully adding a touch of normalcy and Christmas magic to a difficult time. Michelle Morgan, Director of the Family Justice Center, expressed tremendous appreciation for the generous donation of needed supplies. “Children often feel lost in the midst of a crisis, and the excitement of unwrapping gifts at Christmas can help bring a small measure of joy and happiness in a difficult time,” she stated.

Through this simple but thoughtful gesture, the service project not only contributed to the festive spirit of the season, but will also hopefully help those in a difficult situation know that they are supported by a compassionate community.
