Renaming of Family History Centers

On January 10, an official letter was sent from the Temple and Family History Executive Council of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to leaders and General Authorities of the Church informing them of a name change to its Family History Centers worldwide to “FamilySearch Center.”

The letter reads as follows:

To better align the identity of family history centers with FamilySearch.org, the Church’s free online family history resource, all centers are being renamed “FamilySearch Centers.” The Church’s Family History Library, located in Salt Lake City, Utah, will be renamed the “FamilySearch Library.”

In FamilySearch centers, Church and community members may have access to help, equipment, and other free resources, including millions of additional historical records, to further their family history efforts.

The renaming of family history centers will help FamilySearch.org patrons identify and utilize these family history resources located in their communities.
