Tissues Donated to Local Schools

Hurst Texas Stake church members donate 200 boxes of tissues to local school districts.

It’s springtime in Texas, and that means that baseball is finally back, daytime lingers longer, and beautiful bluebonnets adorn the highways and byways. Achoo!  It also means that seasonal allergies are sneaking back in and wreaking havoc on noses everywhere. This is especially true in local elementary schools, where, as supply budgets get depleted in the final months of the year, supplies of extra tissues have dwindled greatly since last fall.

To combat this shortage and stifle the sniffles in area classrooms, members of local congregations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hurst, Texas got together to organize a tissue drive at their annual spring conference.  Flyers were created and distributed, announcements were made during services, and colorful collection boxes were created.  Then, during the two-day conference, church members were encouraged to bring their donations and drop them off at the meeting.  The overwhelming response brought tears to the eyes of organizers.

Thanks to the generous donations of members, thousands of sneezes will now be stopped cold and runny noses and watery eyes will be dried!  The collection amassed hundreds of boxes of tissues, which were then distributed to two local elementary schools.  School officials were extremely grateful for the donations and said that tissues were always in high demand.

Supply closets are now replenished and classrooms restocked for the rest of the school year.  Bless you!
