Hurst Stake Conference - Youth Session

All youth (12-18) from the Hurst Stake area are invited to attend the general session of our semiannual stake conference. This session will be presided over by Elder S. Mark Palmer (Presidency of the Seventy) and Elder Art Rascon (Area Seventy).

We also invite all attendees to bring boxed facial tissues (Kleenex, Puffs, etc) to donate to the HEB and Birdville ISDs. A donation box will be in the foyer of the stake center on both March 9th and 10th.


Elder S. Mark Palmer of the Presidency of the Seventy was born in Te Puke, New Zealand, on February 11, 1956. He married Jacqueline Ann Wood in 1981. They are the parents of six children. He received a bachelor of commerce degree in 1979 from the University of Auckland and an MBA in 1982 from Brigham Young University. He was the founder of SMP Ventures, a real estate development company, and has served as president since 1993. Prior to that, he was a managing director with the Trammell Crow Company.

Elder Palmer has served in a number of Church callings, including full-time missionary in the New Zealand Wellington Mission, elders quorum president, high councilor, high priests group leader, counselor in a bishopric, bishop, counselor in a stake presidency, stake president, and mission president. At the time of his call, Elder S. Mark Palmer had been serving as a member of the Sixth Quorum of the Seventy in the North America Southwest Area.

Elder Art Rascon, Area Seventy, is from Houston, Texas. He is a former news anchor for Disney-owned KTRK in Houston, Texas. Prior to joining KTRK, he worked as a CBS News correspondent on assignments that included international reporting for the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather and 48 Hours. He has been a Bishop, a counselor in the bishopric, a high councilor, a mission presidency counselor, a stake mission president, a stake presidency counselor, and a stake president. He is married to Patti and they have seven children.
