In light of natural disasters both far and close to home, the Hurst Stake will be hosting an Emergency Preparedness Fair on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 9am to 12pm at the Hurst Stake Center. The fair will consist of educational booths, displays, and interactive materials from each congregation in the area.
Topics will include:
Bedford - Canning
North Richland Hills - Food Storage
River Trails 2 - Knife sharpening, fishing and hunting
Watauga - 72 hour Kit
Euless 1 - Water purification
Euless 2 - Emergency meals
Euless 3 - Gardening and compost
Euless 4 - Personal safety and protection
Hurst YSA - Emergency first aid
River Trails 1 - Emergency rendezvous and family gathering places ("bug-out plans")
Stake Emergency Communications - Communications
Additionally, two guest speakers will feature at the event. Starting at 10am, Sister Julie Poole will speak on welfare and self-reliance, and Elder Ray Butler will share insights on volunteer disaster relief.
This fair is open to the community at large, and is meant to promote positive, faithful preparation for times of need.
